Empowering Women, Transforming Communities

WISE Nepal believes that sustainable agriculture and biotechnology should not only improve farming systems but also create opportunities for women to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers in their communities.

Through WISE Nepal programs such as WISE Organics, Nutrient Expert training, and GreenWISE initiatives, women are not only trained in agricultural technologies but are also supported to become entrepreneurs and cooperative leaders.

1. Women-Led Micro-Enterprises

WISE Nepal promotes women-led micro-enterprises where local production units are operated and managed by women.

Structure: Each production unit is operated by a small team of 2–3 women.
Roles: Women manage production, waste collection, fertilizer processing, packaging, and quality control.
Ownership: Women are not just workers — they are co-owners, managers, and decision-makers.

These micro-enterprises create local employment and leadership opportunities for women in rural areas.

2. Training in Science, Business & Leadership

WISE Nepal provides training that goes beyond technical agricultural skills.

Training includes:

  • Biotechnology and biofertilizer production
  • Soil health and nutrient management
  • Business skills (budgeting, pricing, marketing)
  • Cooperative management and governance
  • Leadership and decision-making skills

This combination of science + business + leadership helps women become entrepreneurs, not just laborers.

3. Financial Independence & Household Empowerment

When women earn income, the benefits extend beyond the individual to the entire household.

Impact includes:

  • Women contribute to household income
  • Increased spending on children’s education
  • Improved access to healthcare
  • Increased participation in household decision-making
  • Improved food and nutrition security

This shifts women’s roles from unpaid agricultural labor to income earners and community leaders.

4. Community-Level Change

Empowered women help empower entire communities.

WISE Nepal supports:

  • Women-to-women mentorship programs
  • Formation of women-led cooperatives
  • Local resource sharing and collective marketing
  • Participation in community decision-making and local governance

This builds social capital, leadership, and community resilience.

5. Gender Equity in the Bioeconomy

WISE Nepal is working to ensure that women are not only participants in agriculture and biotechnology — but leaders in these sectors.

Vision: Establish hundreds of women-led agricultural enterprises across Nepal.
Goal: Women become leaders in sustainable agriculture, biofertilizer production, and circular bioeconomy enterprises.
