Turning Agricultural Waste into Soil Health

Nepal produces millions of tons of agricultural residues every year, including rice husks, crop straw, kitchen organic waste, and livestock manure. Much of this waste is burned or discarded, contributing to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and nutrient loss.

WISE Organics converts these materials into organic compost and biofertilizers, creating a circular agricultural system.

Environmental Results

• Reduce crop residue burning and organic waste dumping
• Convert rice husks, manure, and kitchen waste into nutrient-rich soil amendments
• Improve soil organic carbon and microbial activity
• Reduce nutrient runoff into rivers and groundwater
• Lower agricultural greenhouse gas emissions

Impact Potential

• Up to 20–30% reduction in chemical fertilizer use
• Improved soil carbon and soil water retention
• Long-term soil fertility restoration
